So much talk about the “shoulder” and not being able to penetrate it or what is needed to penetrate it. In the deer I’ve killed it’s rarely something I have issue with, even though I crowd the “shoulder”. The scapula isn’t much to deal with on a whitetail and a decent arrow build and a good tune are going to work unless you center up the thicker spine. You absolutely don’t need 60#+ or a 650 grain arrow. This was from a mature East Texas buck 165-175# give or take. 49# Bob Lee Shikari shooting a 560 grain arrow with 250 grains being up front. I have no idea what speed or what FOC nor does it matter to me. The shot was 12 yards slightly quartered to me, I was 12-14’ high. The arrow penetrated an estimated 8-10” getting both lungs at a steep angle.⁠
I post this so those that are fretting over it due to all the stuff on the internet can see that it’s not the monster it’s made out to be. I’ll never tell anyone what or how to do something, but I will say this, “worry about what’s important and trust your equipment”.⁠

The rundown, from @stick_shooter: "45 yards…a little deep...my point on is 40, practiced a lot at 40-50 prepping for elk season. But, even after practicing ALOT at this range, I wouldn’t advise it on whitetails! This deer dropped and spun towards me on the release which resulted in a pretty hard quartering to angle by the time the arrow reached him. Arrow HIT high lung penetrating the right scapula and getting right lung and liver. No blood trail to speak of, quit trailing that night after 200-225 yards. Came back next morning - found stone dead 25 yards from where I stopped trailing night before. Approx. 18-20” of penetration." 300 spine VAP TKO, 200 gr Valkyrie Jagger Ti with 56 gr outsert/collar, 570ish TAW⁠

My face is still swollen from poison ivy. But that PI covered tree was worth climbing. 😄⁠
Nov.5,2022 on the family farm. On my 10th consecutive morning hunt in various locations, this buck gave me a 9 yard broadside shot. ⁠
Another pass thru with the same vparchery 3 blade that's been thru a couple other animals. Touch it up, and back in the quiver. First animal with my 62" bobleebows Ultimate, and it won't be the last. Love this thing⁠

So blessed with the ability to do what I love. This doe gave me a perfect quartering away shot at 18 yards and the daysixgear and bobleebows did the rest! Everything was perfect except me not pushing record lol. Hopefully the GoPro footage is decent! ( #📷 @eppersonclay83 )

I always wanted to learn to hunt, and my first weapon of choice was the traditional bow. ⁠
After a year and a half of meticulously training the trad bow everyday, I've finally been successful in harvesting my first animal ever.⁠

Got this sow pig at 17 yards from a tree stand. ⁠
⁠
I'm shooting bobleebows Recurve bow, 44 pounds at my draw weight, 492 grain arrow with 225 grains upfront. Running magnus stinger 125's for my broadheads. ⁠

Had a full pass through quartering away. Liver shot, the sow ran 100 or so yards from where it was shot. ⁠
⁠
My friend Stan helped me track and find the pig and has taught me a lot of what i know. ⁠
⁠
