The Bob Lee BlackHawk is similar to our Abyss model (an entirely black bow from tip-to-tip) but the BlackHawk affords the addition of exotic veneers on the limbs, tips and caps. (Add handle overlays and you have our Heavyweight model).
This model features our legendary fall-into-the-hand recurve grip, and is handcrafted from a solid chunk of black linen-based Micarta, lending beneficial stabilizing mass to our 17″ short riser.
Our high-performance recurve limbs feature highly-rippled, honey-hued Maple Burl under clear glass. The limb tips feature a four layer design alternating in Maple Burl topping African Bubinga interspersed with black Micarta.

About the BlackHawk
We build our BlackHawk model beginning with a solid block of speed enhancing black linen-based phenolic (aka Micarta), a material that lends exceptional stabilizing advantages due to its added mass weight and high density. The BlackHawk has earned a place in our Performance line for the boost introduced by the mass weight of the materials.
The BlackHawk is a step up from our all-black Abyss (by allowing limb veneer options), and a step below our Heavyweight (which offers overlays and center striping as well as limb veneers). The BlackHawk comes standard with our double-bolt, double-pin limb attachment system, or can be upgraded to Stabi-Lock™ for an additional $355. We build our BlackHawk as a takedown recurve or takedown longbow for both right-handed or left-handed archers.
About our Short Bows
Our short-handle recurve and long bow models offer the advantage of a shorter overall bow length, which affords exceptional maneuverability in closed “quarters” such as hunting stands, box and ground blinds and brush. This compact 17″ design also allows us to offer a 56″ bow length – an excellent option for archers with lower draw lengths.
